Women In Music Spotlight: The ReIntroduction of True

Tammy Reese

Pop and R&B Artist TRUE returns from the lows of a cheating ex with a baby, the depression of family losses, to the strength of being a frontline worker to give her fans one of her most emotional but inspiring masterpieces to date, WTFYM!

Showing pure determination in her return to music, TRUE is back! With a new single that’s going to have ALL the Women saying WTFYM, True has a renewed focus on loving you, being in tune with her Music, and giving her fans what they’ve been needing!

WTFYM can come across many different ways but in this case, it is what it sounds like. Imagine finding out that your boyfriend got another woman pregnant and you have to go into the studio to record new music. You’ll be saying WTFYM too, right? This R&B Anthem is dripped in a heavy bassline that even the 90’s Rockstars would drop to their knees for but the beat itself is infused with the updated sounds of today’s classic R&B songs but this beat is uniquely pleasant & diverse. Overall, the song is a nice mix of Rock & R&B.

You can hear a heavy presence of the 90’s in this record and that’s where True sultry and passionate vocals come in to put the icing on the cake. Starting out in a nice, melodic but serious tone singing “you’ve been playing, playing around on me”, you can hear a little Tina Turner in True. She sells you at the very beginning making you want to hear more of this “story”. asking yourself, girl what did he do? True mixes nice tones, a beautiful range, and a little bit of “rap-singing” before belting out “WTFYM, Just doing you how you do me”!

This song is definitely set up to be the Top Lady’s Anthem of 2021! Go watch “Waiting To Exhale” and pop in that new TRUE, “WTFYM”. You won’t regret it!

Hustle and Soul Magazine got an exclusive interview with True.

Tammy: What inspired you to enter the music industry?

True: I grew up in a musical family so I would like to say it was my family. Everyone plays an instrument or sings so they push me to be the best version of myself as an entertainer I can be.

Tammy: What do you enjoy most about the work that you do?

True: What I enjoy most is the fact I help people. I say all the time artists are “The guinea pigs” of the industry. What we go through or experience we share to help others. Even if it was our worst moments put to music. It influences and motivates a person to get through whatever they are dealing with themselves.

Tammy: What impact do you intend to make through your music?

True: If I can inspire one person to follow their dreams and know that no matter who they are or where they come from that they can be themselves and share themselves with the world artistically then I fulfilled my dreams.

Tammy: How do you use your platform to empower others?

True: I am a very transparent person. I share personal things I have gone through not only through my music but I talk about my life’s journey from my past to my present on a daily basis through my platforms ( social and in-person).

I show others that if someone from poverty and from the hood can get to this point so can they. No matter what walk of life you come from you can create your own future.

Tammy: What are some of your in the studio must haves?

True: Haha as long as A-T.E.E.M (my producers/engineers) are there and I have a good bottle of water I’m good to go. I’m pretty simple.

Tammy: What was the experience like opening for national acts such as Jeremih, August Alsina, and Mario?

True: They were all are amazing Experiences. I learned the most and gained the most experience from Mario.  He was so humble and very easy to talk to. He showed me that no matter how big you get, always remain yourself.

Tammy: Please tell us about some of your latest projects?

True: My official single “WTFYM “ with a complete rollout,  a few tours, and a lot of interviews. So much to come, so stay tuned.
