- The power or right to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint
- The state of not being imprisoned or enslaved
9/10 individuals are in pursuit of freedom because ultimately freedom gives us happiness. The issue comes when we don’t even understand where to begin or even how it should look. Maybe it would be easier if there was a roadmap or if more and more people were transparent and honest about their exodus to freedom. Luckily we have Award Winning Music Producer, Independent Artist, Author, Creative Director, Mental Health Advocate, and Entrepreneur; Aina Brei’Yon to help guide us through her own personal story. I know, I know, she does it all!
I had the privilege of speaking with her about her book Aina’s Key to Personal Freedom about her journey and the concept of freedom as a whole. Being a voice to the masses to encourage them to not allow childhood trauma and generational curses to define them and those who come after them, her keys to personal freedom can be used as a catalyst for your own journey.
Check out the interview below.
Can you share with the audience what does freedom means and look like to you?
Aina Brei’Yon Freedom is the ability to be who you are at the core with no self-doubt or need of validation from anyone outside of self. It’s the art of seeing who a person is and recognizing them when they show up in that light. Freedom brings an inner peace that can never be disturbed by outside forces.
How important is it that people seek out their own personal freedom and not anyone else’s?
Aina Brei’Yon Growing up we were thought that the opinions of others should play a role in how we live our lives. That’s toxic as hell! Truthfully, we are all trying to figure out life, so how can you seek validation from a world that is just as lost as you are?
I love the title of one of the chapters, Whose Story Are You Playing Out and I’m not going to go into details because I want people to get the book, but can you walk us through that experience when you realized that you weren’t living your own story?
Aina Brei’Yon As the 9th, of 10 kids there has always been a part of me that was a little lost. If I am being honest, I jumped into music as an escape from my surroundings and a method of communication, but it also played a role in my discovery. In 2019, I released my 4th self-produced album, “I Missed the Summer”. This was the tipping point of me finally being free. In the album, I discuss some of the most intimate and emotional truths of my childhood. I let all that go, and I have not looked back since.
When you think of your book Aina’s Keys to Personal Freedom, what do you want readers to take from it?
Aina Brei’Yon Life is simple! We tend to complicate it because that’s a lot easier than facing who we are and what we are running from.
Were there moments when you were afraid to share pieces of yourself with the world in this book and how did you overcome it?
Aina Brei’Yon Not at all. I didn’t sit down and start to work on the book until I knew that I was truly free. My true supporters already know the dark parts of my life so there was no fear of judgment. In writing this book I wasn’t seeking acceptance; I was being true to who I am at the core (I practice what I preach).
Leave an encouragement for the audience today; an encouragement for that one person who knows that they are locked in but seem to can’t find an exit for their freedom.
Aina Brei’Yon The only person you should compare yourself to is the person you were yesterday. Seek that happiness that is within, and everything will seem brighter.
Let everyone know how they can connect with you and purchase the book.
