(ATLANTA) The Black Collegiate Gaming Association (BCGA) celebrates Women’s History Month with the Women Got Game Summit (WGG) honoring diverse female trailblazers who have broken barriers in the gaming/Esports industry. The three-city summit tour will visit Charlotte, NC, March 19th – San Francisco, GA – March 26th and Minneapolis, MN – April 1st.

Following the success of Black College Con, Women Got Game is an all-day summit dedicated to connecting high school and collegiate women of color across the country with Black, Latina, Asian and Native American corporate partners and leaders in the gaming/Esports industry, offering opportunities for internships, jobs mentorship and scholarships.

The Summit kicks off with a conversation titled, “Welcome to Her World” featuring the WGG Advisory Committee. Panelists include; Natalie White, Vice President of the WNBA LA Sparks; Jay-Ann Lopez, Founder of Black Girl Gamers and Verta Maloney, Co-Founder and COO of the The GameHERs and Emilice Vener, Founder of the Athena Alliance CLT.”More and more women of color are making their way into the gaming and Esports industry,” said Keisha Walker, BCGA founder and chairwoman. “Research shows women comprise 30 percent of Esports viewership but make up less than 10 percent of the gaming industry.

There’s a major opportunity to address this gap, and I am excited to bring this event to the industry. As women continue to make more advances in tech and gaming, the Summit is long overdue. I hope that hosting during Women’s History month inspires future trailblazers.”As the first and only African American woman to own a collegiate Esports and gaming company, Walker realizes she is already making history.”Black and/or women of color gamers are growing in numbers,” says Walker. “The industry must grow and adjust to make room for this new demographic. During the national WGG Tour, we look forward to hosting real conversations with diverse women of color, corporate executives and successful entrepreneurs in the industry as they reflect on their careers and share insights with high school & college students interested in working in the gaming industry.”

The WGG Summit is being presented by PLAYSTATION, HYPERX, SCOPELY, MCDONALD’S, DRAFTKINGS, HP Inc, BENNETT THRASHER, INTEL and LA SPARKS, will feature an Esports Tournament, scholarships & prizes on Twitch playing WNBA 2k21 and Valorant.High school and college students interested in participating in Women Got Game may register for FREE at www.womengotgame.org.
