Schenika Quattlebaum: CEO and Founder of Natalia Me-gan Hair & Beauty

Established in 2018, Natalia Me-gan Hair & Beauty is a female minority-owned indie brand offering a wide variety of cruelty-free hydrating luxury matte lipsticks, lip glosses, and 3D mink faux voluminous lashes. Hustle and Soul Magazine is thrilled to showcase this amazing Black-Owned Brand during Black History Month.

Tammy Reese: What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

Schenika Quattlebaum: I wanted more out of life. I didn’t just want to work for someone else until I retire.

I want to create my own platform that gives me control over my own time and financial freedom.

Ultimately putting myself in a position where I am the employer and not the employee.

Tammy Reese: How did Natalia Me-gan Hair & Beauty come about? 

Schenika Quattlebaum: This question is two-fold. I had the initial concept for my brand many years before I actually started it. I’ve always had a love for makeup however, it took on a different meaning for me.

I was in a domestic violence relationship and makeup became my cover-up. It was my camouflage when I wore it not only did it hide my marks, but I also felt beautiful again (even if it was only temporary).

Then in 2016, a family member became ill with cancer and lost her hair due to chemotherapy treatments, and didn’t like any of the wigs from the beauty supply store.

It was then I knew it was time for me to begin to put my plan in motion for my business and I got started with the vendor search.  It wasn’t until 2018 when I launched my business.

Tammy Reese: What are the celebrities saying about your products?

Schenika Quattlebaum: They love our products! We’ve received raving reviews on the quality and pigments of our lip-gloss and matte liquid lips.

The fullness of our triple band luxury mink lashes. The consistency and longevity of our eye palettes.

Overall, we’ve been able to create a line of luxury that will leave you looking and feeling beautiful. 

Tammy Reese: What sets our products apart from similar brands? 

Schenika Quattlebaum: We aren’t just product and numbers-driven we genuinely care about our customers.

I truly believe in treating each customer how I as a customer would want to be treated. 

Tammy Reese: Which of your beauty products are your favorite and why?

Schenika Quattlebaum: Whew, this is tough. But I would say our lip-glosses are my favorite. I started these in my kitchen, using a recipe I created and the customers fell in love with them.

The colors I’ve created the consistency and how moisturizing they make your lips is all amazing.

The biggest accomplishment is my formula is non-sticky and the glosses do not feather while wearing them.

Tammy Reese: What do you love most about being in your career field?

Schenika Quattlebaum: I absolutely love being able to enhance people’s beautiful features.

To hear how much my products are loved and to see them wearing our products brings a different joy to me.

It makes all the late nights/early mornings and the times where I didn’t sleep absolutely worth it. 

Tammy Reese: Any other cool products we can be on the lookout for?

Schenika Quattlebaum: I am really excited on the launch of our magnetic lashes coming in early March.

This magnetic lash kit will include: two different lash styles, eyeliner and lash applicator. 

In late spring, early summer we will launch our highlighters, brow gels and brow powders.
