The pedigree of his name rings loud from the boardroom to the streets. This power player and former President of the Georgia Music Industry Association (GMIA). Some may remember Nino during his tenure as President of Union Label under the MCA/ Universal Music Group.
Nino started in the music industry by combining his musical talents and business savvy and launched Union Label Records in 1996. The founder and CEO, Nino formed a partnership and distribution deal with Platinum Entertainment. He served as executive producer on the compilation album“Union Presents Organized Rhymes”, working with some of the greatest emcees in New York City at the time including AZ, CL Smooth, Twista, Gang Starr, and the late Big L.
The release and sales of “Organized Rhymes” got the attention of Anton Marchand, then vice-president of A&R for Interscope Records in New York. Villanova’s success led him to a label deal with MCA Records/Universal Music Group (currently Universal Music) in 2000. For the next three years, he was responsible for talent acquisitions, overseeing the creative process and managing marketing efforts, and worked with platinum-selling, critically acclaimed record producers.
At the helm of the Georgia Music Industry Association in Atlanta, he represented and led a group of distinguished professionals in their respective fields within the music industry. He fostered those relationships to come together and impact all facets of the music industry in Georgia and beyond. An ever-evolving leader, Nino knows the importance of both staying relevant in the industry he loves, as well as its ever-changing components.
