As we approach Juneteenth, it’s our distinct pleasure to showcase Entrepreneurs who are our ancestor’s wildest dreams. Meet Daminique Washington, Founder of Spiced Up by Daminique which is a Low Sodium Gluten Free Seasoning Brand.
The inspiration behind the brand was Daminique’s love for Healthcare & Cooking with a focus on lowering Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) predominantly in African American Households. Advising that you can still enjoy a well-flavored meal while lowering the salt intake.
She says that her best-selling product is her “All Purpose” seasoning due to its Low Sodium intake amazing flavor and versatility to be used on multiple meal ideas. It’s great on meats, snacks, veggies, desserts, and cocktails.
Spiced Up by Daminique is armed with an array of products including best sellers: Brown Sugar Baby BBQ Rub, Cajun, and our Sweet Dust Mix. The products are known for it’s great taste in flavor and Low Sodium Nutrition. Daminique believes that you can make amazing dishes while lowering salt intake. Her vision is to create a household name, that promotes a healthy lifestyle while still enjoying flavored dishes with seasonings that intrigues the palate.
The brand seeks to join Nonprofit Organizations that focus on philanthropy projects for feeding families and giving back to the community. Spiced Up by Daminique will continue to create a line of Low Sodium products for all palate types.

How did your company begin?
Daminique: Since our startup, Spiced Up by Daminique products have taken the Gourmet Seasonings market by storm!
Spiced Up by Daminique launched in 2019 which is a Low Sodium Seasoning Brand with the creation of our first Spiced Up by Daminique product, All Purpose Seasoning a unique proprietary blend of herbs and spices to support a Low Sodium intake. Spiced Up by Daminique began producing products customers demanded with the introduction of the Citrus Seafood Seasoning, acclaimed for its citrus accents oranges, lemons and limes aid in immune system boost.
What is the desire of your brand?
Daminique: I desire to create a household name, that promotes service and a healthy lifestyle.
Do you believe in work-life balance? If so how do you maintain it?
Daminique: I do believe in a work-life balance! I’ve maintained that balance by setting boundaries in my time management. I worked two jobs while running my business and needed to make sure I made time for self-care as well as running the day-to-day business aspects. I wanted to eliminate the possibility of burnout. Creating a realistic schedule that fit with my lifestyle.
What’s your best piece of advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs?
Daminique: My best advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs would be to “Believe in your brand. Don’t give up on yourself. Move with intent to keep striving for results”.

Daminique: National Herbs and Spices Day falls on June 10th every year and celebrates the world of diversity when it comes to seasonings. My Black owned Seasoning Company takes a healthier approach.
