CEO of Diamond’s Body Care, Diamond Brown On What It Takes To Run A Business

It takes a lot to run a business. We are grateful to continue to highlight entrepreneurs who have both Hustle & Soul. Meet Diamond Brown. She is the founder & CEO of Diamond’s Body Care. Her motivation for formulating hydrating, plant-based body care products grew as a result of not being able to find a suitable product on the market to help soothe her husband’s skin due to the harsh effects of chemotherapy and radiation after his cancer diagnosis. Unfortunately, her husband lost his battle with cancer but Diamond continued sharing her products with others as a way to help heal from her loss. We had the opportunity to interview Diamond and learn more about her business.

What has been your most effective marketing strategy to grow your business?

Diamond: I started off doing pop-ups and expos. We most times would sell out. Customers would crowd our table giving compliments on how beautiful my display was. Then after trying they would be hooked. They would tell a friend or even go online that night and order products for a family member or friend. 75% of those customers became repeat customers.

Who is your business role model? Why?

Diamond: Adrianne White of Envii Labs and Arian Simone of Fearless Fund. Adrianne is so personable she responds to DMs and posts on her news feeds. I have been following her for years and watched her grow her hair care brand. Adrianne is from Detroit I’ve been a fan of hers for over 10yrs when she had a body butter company.
