Celebrating Mompreneurs With Karwanna D
In a recent interview with We Empower Magazine, Karwanna D stated that she’s always been the type of person who shared information. Coming from a single-parent household, and being raised by her mother with 6 other siblings, gave her insight into how powerful women really are and how important matriarchs are in families as well as in communities. So naturally, she has the heart to serve and empower women.
Mompreneur Karwanna D is the owner of She’s Got Goals, LLC which is a business coaching and consulting firm designed to empower women in business with tools, tips, and strategies to successfully start and grow a small business and position their business as a vehicle to create generational wealth.
Hi, We hope you had an amazing and Happy Mothers Day Karwanna, and we congratulate you on becoming a new mom. How has motherhood been for you so far?
Motherhood to me is one of the most beautiful and exciting parts of my life. I wouldn’t exchange it for anything in the world. I especially enjoy being able to be both a mother and a CEO as well as a wife all at the same time. Years ago when I was still working a traditional w2 job I felt like I had to choose and I sacrificed motherhood for my career. Because I had to work 9–5, which really entailed a 7–7 schedule when you consider the commute and dropping the baby off at the sitter. I was missing out on all the most amazing 1st moments like 1st words, and 1st steps…and that’s what made me decide to start my own business. Now I’m able to prioritize my little ones while growing a successful and thriving business.
What are some best practices you use to balance mom life and your professional obligations?
I would say “Live Life by Design, Not by Default.” Meaning, that the best thing you can do to balance mom life and professional obligations is to write a life plan of what you want to accomplish and how you want to live and experience life and stick to that plan. When you own your own business you have a choice. You can either choose to allow your business to become a full-time job where you’re overworked and underpaid and you have to put life on the back burner or you can choose to do business strategically, work smarter and not harder, and prioritize your family and your children because they grow up and they move out. So you don’t want to miss out on those impressionable moments hustling when you can simply enjoy life, and business, and experience ultimate joy altogether because you’ve planned to live life on purpose.
What services and resources do you offer fellow mompreneurs?
I help women business owners grow their businesses with government contracts. One good contract can replace 500 or more individual customers that they may be currently chasing. What that does is give them their time back to enjoy motherhood as well as experience wealth creation while working less than part-time. By showing mompreneurs how to strategically build a business that is not only sustainable but also provides consistent income and pays top dollars for products and services provided by women-owned businesses, I’m helping them create a real legacy.
Most women in business have no clue of their real value so they find themselves chasing customers, spinning their wheels, and burning themselves out. Many don’t know that there’s a guaranteed customer out there specifically for women-owned businesses who pay massively. And that’s the government. So for me, I feel the service that I provide as a business coach who walks them through the complete process of pitching and winning government contracts is how I create impact in this world. I absolutely love changing lives and helping others create wealth.
As a Government Contracts Strategist, can you tell us about any best-kept secrets you would want our readers to know?
I want to say for me one of the best-kept secrets has been, what I coin, The Trillion Dollar Secret to Government Contracts. There are literally trillions of dollars on the table for small businesses and most of it goes unclaimed each year simply because nobody knows about this. Yet we have new businesses popping up every single day and the one thing most have in common are they’re spending more time chasing customers than they are cashing checks and that to me is a huge problem. Especially when something like government contracts, which are governed by the Small Business Act, is there to help business owners grow their business faster.
Most entrepreneurs believe that it takes 2–5 years to really grow a business and that they’re lucky if they make it past 5. Well, this secret defies all that. When you apply the right steps and learn to do business with the right players, you can be highly successful in 3–6 months and at least add another six figures to your business in your first year. The Trillion Dollar Secret to Government Contracts truly is something that can change your life. Even more so, for mompreneurs, minority-owned, and other small business groups that have been disadvantaged, using this strategy can help you leverage your business to do so many things that most only dream about.
What else is on your soul to share with us?
I’m excited to share I have a new book called Don’t Duck The Government, They’ve Got Your Money available at dontduckthegovernmentbook.com. It’s all about how to make millions pitching and winning government contracts. The concepts behind building a business strategically with government contracts have allowed me to be a new mom all over again and raise my son without worrying about childcare or how I’m going to provide for him. This time around it’s different for me because I get to be there every single step of the way and capture every moment that I missed when I was doing business all wrong years ago with my older children. It means everything to me to empower more women in business with information that will help them achieve success faster and without making all the mistakes I made when I started over a decade ago.
Any shoutouts you would like to give?
I want to shout out some of my top clients who are currently landing government contracts in record time and creating wealth for themselves and their families. Sharita, Remy, Kym, Dominica, Tim, and many others. And to Gloria, who landed her 1st quarter of a million-dollar contract in her first nine months after making zero in her business and struggling to make ends meet. Thank you for trusting me to walk you through this journey and for believing that you can succeed.
I also want to shout out my own business coaches Marquel Russell of Client Attraction University, Taurea Avant of Book Profits Club, and Joel Earway with Mini Webinars. Each of you has played a major role in helping me grow and scale my business so that I can serve more women-owned and minority-owned businesses. Thank you.
And of course, I want to shout out my husband, who has been my #1 inspiration, supporter, and cheerleader since inception. I love you more than Uncle Charlie Wilson and New Edition. Lol!
