Black Business Month Spotlight: Tiffany Cartwright of G.L.A.M Body Scrubs
With August being Black Business Month we are spotlighting Black business owners that have Hustle & Soul. Today we spoke with Tiffany Cartwright of G.L.A.M Body Scrubs. These scrubs can be found in hundreds of stores across the country including several Walmart and Target stores.
There are many beauty brands. How do you differentiate your business from the competition?
Tiffany: My major differentiator is the fact that my business is a vehicle through which I am committed to changing lives. I’m determined to help drop the poverty, unemployment, incarceration, and recidivism rate. I’m focused on blessing women, particularly those who have been victims of domestic violence and human trafficking as well as women who are returning citizens. My commitment to the community is unparalleled. Additionally, I have the world’s greatest body scrub that contains no added preservatives, no SLS, no animal testing, and no harsh chemicals. I do not use glycerin or mineral oil in my products and my products are not water-based.
What’s your best piece of advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs in the beauty space?
Tiffany: My best piece of advice for aspiring business owners would be to remain diligent and continue to persevere. Also do not be discouraged by anything or anyone. Additionally, I would say never compromise the integrity of your brand, not even for all the money in the world.
Who is your business role model? Why?
Tiffany: My business role model is my mentor, brother, and pastor Art Cartwright who has taught me everything I know about being a supplier and getting into retail stores. He is my role model because not only is he a successful business owner but he tirelessly works every day and has successfully helped over 10,000 businesses. He is mentoring and training people to make history every day.
