Authors With Hustle and Soul Spotlight: Cherry Charleston Harris

We love highlighting authors who have both hustle and soul. Today we had the opportunity to chat with author Cherry Charleston Harris. Cherry was born and raised in Demopolis, Alabama. She is the mother of four and grandmother of six wonderful children. She spent twenty years of her life in Germany where she experienced people from many different cultures.

Her books Oma and Me: A Trip To The Fire Station and Oma Comes To Visit are heart-warming stories centered around Ethan and his grandmother and the many things they love doing together. Her third book is Christmas-themed and releasing this holiday season.

Do you believe in work-life balance? If so, how do you maintain it?

Cherry: Yes, I believe in work-life balance. Maintaining the balance is not easy if you don’t enjoy both your work and your life. I balance by keeping my focus on the thing that brings value and fulfillment to my life which is my writing and ministering to others. I incorporate a degree of ministry into my work. I believe that everyone should have something in life that they would work very hard for even if they are not getting paid in money. We should learn that life rewards do not always come in dollar signs.

What’s your best piece of advice for aspiring and new authors?

Cherry: Write about what you believe in and what makes you happy. Even if your book is fiction, let it have an important message that can be of help to inspire others. If all you believe in is profit, you will write whatever you think the masses will buy which could be vain and empty of real meaning. Write to be a blessing and not just to be blessed.
