A Conversation with Novelist and Music Artist Terry Billy

Terry Billy is a Charm City house music singer. Her vocal talents have allowed her to travel globally amongst the likes of famed musicians such as Run DMC, Mantronix & more. The start of the pandemic forced Terry to shift her focus and it caused her to stumble upon D-Nice’s club quarantine series. The IG series lifted her spirits during unprecedented times. Terry decided to pen a novel to share her quarantine experience, real-life music experiences, and more in a fictional way. Her new novel, My Club Q Journey Of Love, is available on Amazon. Hustle and Soul Magazine got an exclusive interview with Terry.

Please tell our readers about your new novel, My Club Q Journey Of Love?

My Club Q Journey Of Love is about the love of music and how music can take you on a journey. It’s also about how music can heal but also take you where you may not want to go. The power of music allows you to cherish fond memories and emotions to last a lifetime.

What do you love most about the industry that you are in?

I loved making people feel good with music. I loved the interaction, love, and support.

In what ways do you feel you make a difference in the world?

My writing makes a difference in the world. My new book, My Club Q Journey Of Love, will show you that we are a lot alike and we are not alone. We are stronger than we think.

What do you have coming up or are working on?

I’m thinking of getting back in the studio. I recorded one new song earlier this year and enjoyed the process all over again. I also plan to host book signing events as well.

What is the best advice you ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received was to take care of yourself first. We know that self-care is important and this advice truly hit home with that sentiment.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy music in my free time. Music is the answer. I also love to paint as well.

What are some of the most memorable moments in your career so far?

One of the most memorable moments in my past music career was gracing the stage in London at the Albert Hall with the Godfather of Soul, James Brown! It was amazing and one of the best experiences.

What do you want your legacy to look like?

I’d like my legacy to be that I did my best and lived life my own way.
